What is ARA 290?

ARA 290, also called cibinetide, is an 11-amino-acid peptide designed from part of the structure of erythropoietin (EPO). It was designed to act on a tissue-protective receptor without stimulating red blood cell production, which is what EPO is best known for.

What the research shows

ARA 290 has been tested in small clinical trials, including in people with small fiber neuropathy related to sarcoidosis. Larger trials have not established its effectiveness, and it is not FDA-approved.
